THE JOHNSON BUILDING, Racine, WI

Design Team Leader with William McDonough + Partners

The 200,000-sf LEED-Gold headquarters for the Johnson Family, clients of the historic Frank Lloyd Wright building, was the centerpiece of the revitalization of downtown Racine. The spaces are organized around views of Lake Michigan and historic Monument Square, and the façade is designed carefully to regulate daylight. The Sierra Club highlighted the building as the centerpiece of the redevelopment of the city. An exemplar of green building strategies, the project has been featured in multiple scientific research papers.
